FREEDOM IS A MUST FOUNDATION LAUNCHES COMMUNITY FOOD INITIATIVE IN DOWNTOWN TORONTO

Freedom Is a Must Foundation (FIAMF) is launching a community focused initiative aimed at increasing access to food, resources, and meaningful community connection for individuals and families in downtown Toronto.
The initiative will begin with The Freedom Table: A Community Supper, a free, familyfriendly drop-in event taking place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at 174 Sherbourne Street, near Sherbourne and Shuter.
Community members are welcome to drop in throughout the afternoon to share a meal, connect with others, learn more about available community resources and access takehome food items while supplies are available. No registration or explanation for attending is required.
The Freedom Table will also serve as the starting point for FIAMF’s broader efforts to bring food and community support directly to people where they are. Following the event, the Foundation intends to continue distributing food through pop-up locations across Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto, working alongside community organizations and partners to identify areas where additional support is needed.
The initiative reflects FIAMF’s belief that community support should be accessible, dignified, and free from judgement.

“Sometimes support starts with something as simple as food and a place where you feel welcome,” said Cassandra Harvey, Board Chair of FIAMF.

“At The Freedom Table, we are coming together to nourish a community I once called home, too often underserved and overpoliced. This event is about more than meals; it’s about restoring dignity, creating safety, and reminding folks that all communities need to be seen, valued, and not forgotten. As the founder of FIAMF, I believe in showing up with compassion and consistency, because real freedom means nobody gets left behind” said Christophe Lewis, Founder and Executive Director of FIAMF.

This event is being held in collaboration with Migente Cocina, a Latin American restaurant in the Greater Toronto Area. FIAMF is also welcoming food donations, financial contributions, volunteers, community organizations, and businesses interested in supporting the initiative.
